Tara Bohlen, Private Lessons and Group Class Instructor

Tara Bohlen, Violin Instructor at Con Brio String Studio, is excited to be a part of your music learning journey! Tara, a resident of Santa Rosa Beach Florida, currently performs violin with Panama City Symphony Orchestra and Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra.  She was previously violin/viola professor at the University of Mary and Orchestra Director at Bismarck High School, Bismarck Public Elementary Schools, and Strolling Strings Performance Group and was Director of the Bismarck Mandan Symphony  interlude Youth Orchestra. Tara, a graduate of St Olaf College, has over 20 years of teaching experience.  She is Suzuki Certified, instructing students of all ages and abilities ages 3 through adult. Many of her students have received top ratings in local and state music festivals, won young artists competitions, have been awarded music scholarships for college, have become music teachers, and have continued playing professionally as adults.   She has adjudicated for NDHSAA, WDA, State Music Festivals, and All-State auditions. She enjoys writing arrangements for string orchestra, quartet, and chamber ensembles.

Tara loves to play improvisational violin with her church, performing as a free lance violinist for special events.  She has performed in shows including Mannheim Steam Roller, Kansas, Allman Brothers Revival, Serpentine Fire-Earth Wind Fire, and Led Zeppelin Tribute Bands.

Tara and her husband Josh formed Violin/Rap Duo B-L’Attitude, which was featured in Medora, TEDx, and were guest artists with Bismarck-Mandan Civic Chorus.  She was voted North Dakota’s favorite instrumentalist in 2016 at the North Dakota Music Awards.

Tara is a mother of three girls, Hannah, Taliah, and Sylvia, who all play string instruments. As a family they enjoy making music together.
